About

Due to the change of website ownership, the RideAble website will now be focusing more on providing useful guides, tutorials, and information on horse breeds, horse riding techniques, horse riding gears, and more.

We hope that our new direction will benefit people who love horse riding and horses in general.

If you need to contact us, feel free to do so. We can’t wait to know what you have to share!

What is RideAble?

RideAble is a Center for Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies for individuals with special needs serving the greater Eugene/Springfield area. We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization founded in 1995 sustained by grants, donations, fundraising events, and, in a small part, income from lessons.

We serve anyone living with developmental, emotional, physical, or mental challenges; participants span a range of abilities and ages. Along with providing individuals the opportunity to learn overall horsemanship skills, such as tacking, riding, and grooming.

We also, provide a PetAble program which is designed for our human friends to connect with all the animals living at our facility, this includes sheep, goats, bunnies, and donkeys.

Our Services

While some of our riders come primarily for the healing benefits of horseback riding, others come to expand their riding skills.

Classes are designed to fit the individual, their needs, and abilities. Our extensive assessment facilitated by our staff creates a set of specific goals with the rider and their family.

Riding lessons are taught in an indoor or outdoor arena with games, obstacle or challenge courses, and trail rides as weather conditions permit. We serve anyone with developmental, emotional, physical, mental special needs, as well as veterans.

Lessons are planned to meet each rider’s individual needs and groups are selected to include riders with similar skills, stamina, age, and goals.

What are some of the benefits of riding with RideAble?

  • Promotes confidence and expertise
  • Riders create an emotional bond with the horses
  • Increases creative thinking and critical thinking
  • Riders become more knowledgeable about overall horse care
  • Develops self-awareness and empathy
  • Increases sensory preceptor in riders

Staff

RideAble believes that the animals, especially the horses, are the true staff. We make every effort to ensure that our horses are physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy to provide the most positive experience for both horse and rider.

The participants come to see the animals and bond quickly to “their” horse. The horses get to know their individual students and treat them as an individual according to their needs and abilities.

The instructional staff guides the students through basic skills and games to enhance their personal growth and development. Below are introductions to each of our staff.
